"From Classical to Jazz." Albert Lau is a multi-faceted musician passionate about a wide spectrum of music including Contemporary Classical, Tango and Jazz, including Percussion, Drumset, and Keyboard; specializing in Keyboard solo repertoire, modern chamber music, and Jazz percussion Keyboard (Marimba/Vibraphone),  He claims to promote modern musical art in a down-to-earth, and non-elitist manner. Also believing in contributing to society through one's talents, as one of the members of the community.

「由古典到爵樂。」劉風霆作為一位多元化音樂表演者，涉獵敲擊樂、爵士鼓及鍵盤樂器。風格廣泛至現代音樂、拉丁探戈及美國爵士樂，主力於鍵盤獨奏、現代室內樂及爵士打擊鍵盤 (馬林巴/鐵琴）。主張以「貼地」、「非精英主義」形式推廣當代音樂藝術。作為社會一份子，堅信以才華回饋社會的價值觀。

Lau has participated in large-scale performances and competitions. Previous experiences include winning 3rd prize of 7th Vienna New Year Music Competition (Percussion section), accepting Marimba One Scholarship for Jazz Marimba Artist Jenny Klukken's Marimba Workshop 2024 at University of Minnesota, participating in Contemporary Chamber Orchestra Black House Collective, participating in Tango for Musician at Reed College, winning 3rd Place in the age group 18 in Australian Marimba Competition 2023, 1st Place Marimba Award in the age group above 23 in King’s Peak International Music Competition Fall 2023, passing the audition of Berklee Umbria Jazz Clinic and the U.S.A. Kansas Naftzger Young Artist Audition in 2023, participating Nief-Norf Summer Festival as a performance fellow at University of Tennessee Knoxville in U.S.A., one of the four Final winners of the 1st Flash Competition of Hong Kong Baptist University Department of Music, and director of his Recital ‘One Encounter One Chance" in 2022, one of the performers of ‘Daedalus Drones’ with Ken Ueno as part of the Hong Kong New Vision Arts Festival 2021, one of the performers of Musical Jam with the Green Xmas Band at Hong Kong WestKowloon District Art Park, director of his Recital ‘23 Hz’ in 2021, Second Honor award winner of International Fringe Music Festival & Competition 2020, First Runner-up of China Nie Er Youth Wind Band Art Week Competition 2019, and Hong Kong Representative Performers of Joy Dancing Beijing Belt and Road Initiative Youth Culture Exchange Week 2018. He has collaborated with Hong Kong composers to create new works.

活躍於敲擊樂獨奏、爵士樂與樂隊演奏活動，近年參與多項演出與比賽，包括於2024獲得維也納新年音樂會打擊樂組三等獎、獲得Marimba One Scholarship 參與爵士木琴藝術家Jenny Klukken 明尼蘇達大學馬林巴工作坊，入選美國加州當代音樂室樂團Black House Collective，，參與里德學院探戈音樂合奏，於2023年贏得澳洲馬林巴大賽公開組（18歲以上）季軍、美國King's Peak 國際音樂比賽木琴組 （23歲以上）第一名，入選伯克利意大利翁布里亞爵士研習班、入圍美國堪薩斯洲Naftzger 青年藝術家比賽試音、以表演研究者身份參與美國田納西大學Nief-Norf 夏季音樂節；於2022年作為香浸會大學音樂系第一屆Flash 獨奏比賽最終勝出者四位其一、舉辦擊樂獨奏會《一期一會》；2021年於新視野藝術節：上野健《代達羅斯之無人機》演出、西九文化區藝術公園《綠色聖誕大合奏》、舉辦擊樂獨奏會《23 Hz》；2020年於國際藝穗音樂節大賽敲擊樂獨奏公開組乙等獎；2019年隨翱樂管樂團於聶耳青少年管樂藝術週比賽奪得亞軍；2018年隨柏斯管樂團以香港區代表身份參與國際青少年文化藝術交流週。

He is a Music theory teaching assistant and Doctoral of Musical Art (D.M.A.) student under Dr. Eric Willie at the University of North Carolina Greensboro with full scholarships. He also developed his jazz performance style under the guidance of  Vibraphonist Marco Pacassoni, Berklee Jazz Vibraphone Professor Gustavo Agatiello, Drummer Doug Montera, Pianist Christopher Leach, and Patrick Lui Pak-Hei, also has been learned from faculties of Berklee College of Music Professor Yoron Isreal, Zahili Gonzalez Zamora, and Marimba One Artist Jenny Klukken. He was offered 50% Scholarship for Berklee College's Professional Music Diploma Program (Jazz Vibraphone Performance)

為音樂理論助理及敲擊樂博士生，以全額獎學金於北卡羅來納州大學格林斯伯勒分校隨Dr. Eric Willie 學習。另隨顫音琴家Marco Pacassoni 及伯克利爵士顫音琴教授 Gustavo Agatiello、鼓手Doug Montara、鋼琴家  Christopher Leach及雷柏熹 Patrick Lui 鑽研爵士樂，亦曾接受伯克利音樂學院教授 Yoron Isreal、 Zahili Gonzalez Zamora、及Marimba One 藝術家 Jenny Klukken指導。2024年曾考獲伯克利專業音樂文憑（爵士鐵琴表演）課程半額獎學金，

As an enthusiast in social service, He participated in both volunteer work and musical art job related to social service, including as an artist of a recycling music instrument workshop for Children 'Musical Jam with the Green Xmas Band' in Hong Kong West Kowloon District in 2021, as an overseas (Cambodia) service team member of Hong Kong Baptist University Y.M.C.A. in 2019, and as a participant of a volunteer team of The Salvation Army Hong Kong Chuk Yuen Centre, service target includes poverty elderly, children, and the homeless in 2014.

熱心社會服務，曾參與了與義工及與社會服務相關的音樂藝術工作，2021年以藝術家身份參與香港西龍文化區兒童環保樂器工作坊《綠色聖誕大合奏》，2019年以香港浸會大學基督教青年會 Y.M.C.A. 海外服務團隊成員身份前往柬埔寨。2014年參與救世軍香港竹園中心義工隊成員，服務貧困長者、兒童、露宿者。

He obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Music with first-class honors. Albert participated in Marimba masterclasses by Michael Burritt, Dr. Wei-Chen Lin, Dr. Josie Lin, and Miss Kana Omori. Also received private guidance by Dr. Michael Compitello, Nancy Zeltsman, and Dr. Terry Longshore.

2022年以一級榮譽畢業香港浸會大學（榮譽）音樂文學士。劉氏曾參與 Albert Ludwig, Michael Burritt、林宥綸博士、林喆博士及大森香奈馬林巴琴大師班。亦曾接受Michael Compitello博士、Nancy Zeltsman、Terry Longshore 博士私人指導。
